2021 Celler Bellaserra 'Superbloom Red' Garnacha

We’ve never met a vintage of Superbloom we didn’t love, we’ve even had the orange in the club a ways back. They are fresh, fun, approachable and the grapes are biodynamically farmed and sulfur free. Carles Muray has been making wine at this old school estate, Oller Del Mas, in Catalan just a ways outside of Barcelona for some awhile now. He introduced the idea of producing some fresher, less serious wines to the owners and the Superbloom series was born. He is still making those more classical wines but this project is a great way to make wines he's excited about. The grapes for the Superbloom series come from old plots of indigenous grapes on the property. This Red is a blend of red and white grapes (Grenache, Picapoll Negre & Picapoll Blanc) in equal parts. One cool thing about Carle’s production is that he’s making these wines in the Barcelona metro area within the city which is really uncommon, unlike here in the US. What he's doing is really unique in the sense that he’s pioneering a change in an industry and region that is heavily tied to tradition. We hope you enjoy this wine either ice cold or with a little chill depending on your preference. This is a great wine to bring to a party, even for folks that aren’t big on natural wine. It's soft and fresh and is perfect with or without food.
Pairing Recommendations: Pan con tomate (rustic grilled bread with tomato and olive oil) we like to add some tinned seafood on top for a complete meal. Mussels with tomato and saffron broth and grilled vegetables with polenta.
